This happens because of the pressure exerted by water at depth. One of the things you’ll learn during your Discover Scuba Diving experience is how to equalize that pressure in your ears. During the dive, your ears should never hurt.
This might have been a concern in scuba diving 50 years ago, but it’s not today. Your scuba tank is connected to a pressure gauge that indicates the pressure inside the tank at all times. During your Discover Scuba Diving experience, your instructor will monitor your tank’s pressure closely, and you’ll exit the water long before it runs out.
For the Discover Scuba Diving experience, the maximum allowed depth is 12 meters (40 feet). However, this doesn’t mean you have to reach that depth. You will go as deep as you feel comfortable.
Marine life will only attack if it feels threatened. During your Discover Scuba Diving experience, your instructor will be with you at all times to ensure that you maintain a safe distance, protecting both the environment and ourselves.
For your Discover Scuba Diving experience, knowing how to swim is not required. Your instructor will be with you at all times and will assist you by holding onto your tank or another part of your equipment so that you can focus on enjoying the incredible underwater world.
Scuba diving is a very safe activity today. By following the rules and diving conservatively, the chances of an accident are really very low.
The duration of the dive can vary depending on different factors, but an average for your Discover Scuba Diving experience would be around 45 minutes.
Absolutely! During your Discover Scuba Diving experience, we’ll visit shallow reefs where someone with snorkeling gear can enjoy it from the surface. They can even stay on the boat if they prefer not to get in the water.
The meeting point is at the Blue Magic Scuba dive center. We will send you exact coordinates once you book with us, but we are located in downtown Cozumel, just a 5-minute walk from the ferry pier.
Everything you need for your Discover Scuba Diving experience is included in the price. We recommend bringing a hat or cap, a rashguard or long sleeves to protect yourself from the sun, sunglasses, a towel, dry clothes, etc.
Yes, in fact, it’s advisable to have a light snack before diving. However, a heavy meal is not recommended before your Discover Scuba Diving experience.
It is not advisable to drink alcohol before diving. Heavy drinking the night before is also not recommended.
Between the first and second dive, we’ll offer tropical fruits and snacks. There is purified water on the boat. If you want to bring something else, you’re welcome to do so.
After your Discover Scuba Diving experience with two dives, it is recommended to wait 18 hours before flying.
Your instructor’s top priority is your safety. If you want photos as a keepsake, let us know during your booking so we can plan for it.
The Discover Scuba Diving experience does not provide a certification. However, if you think you might want to get your Open Water Diver certification, let us know so that one of your Discover Scuba dives can count toward your certification.
The maximum ratio is 1 instructor per 3 students. If there are 4 people, 2 instructors will be assigned, but they will go together as a group. We often have Divemaster trainees who can assist the instructor during the Discover Scuba Diving experience.
No, it is not advisable to dive if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are trying to get pregnant.
During the Discover Scuba Diving experience, your tank contains air: 21% oxygen and 79% nitrogen, just like the air we breathe on the surface every day.
This can vary depending on a person’s physiology among other factors. But as mentioned, the dive usually lasts around 45 minutes.
You cannot dive with glasses. The good news is that things appear slightly larger underwater. You can wear contact lenses, just be careful not to open your eyes underwater, or you might lose them.
